FAMOUS HYPNOTHERAPIST, DR. DON DE GRAZIA Specialist in clinical hypnosis for smoking cessation for 35 years.
of Oak Park, Illinois
The program will begin with a free seminar that will last about 40 minutes. You’re invited to attend this 40-minute seminar free of charge and without any obligation. The free seminar is very interesting and extremely informative. Dr. De Grazia will show you things you can do to increase your hypnotizability. He will be happy to answer any questions you might have about hypnosis in general or about our stop-smoking program in particular.
The actual hypnotizing will begin a
few minutes after the 40-minute free seminar is finished. We
have a special promotion planned which will allow you to save $30
from the regular small-group price of $158. If you stay to be
hypnotized after the free seminar, the cost will be only $128, a
savings of almost 20%.
This is a one-session program. You only have to come there once, but if you ever need help again for the rest of your life, you will always be welcome to come back again at a greatly reduced rate which is currently only $64. This is the same reduced price repeaters have always received in our small-group programs. There are no time limits or limits to the number of times you can come back--people sometimes come back more than twenty years later--so this is a lifetime program to make sure you remain a non-smoker for the rest of your life. It is aimed at causing you to just lose the desire for cigarettes, so you won’t go around thinking about smoking--or thinking about not smoking--but simply being the way you were before you ever started smoking.
The program takes about two hours, including the free seminar, so
you should be a non-smoker by about 9 pm.
Hypnosis can effect physiological phenomena as well as psychological phenomena, so you most likely will not have any withdrawal symptoms.
During the sessions we always ask how many people have quit smoking
through hypnosis in the past and had little or no withdrawal
symptoms. Almost all of the people that have quit smoking in our
hypnosis program in the past raise their hands.
Because there are usually no withdrawal symptoms, people usually don’t gain weight when they quit smoking in our hypnosis program unless they need to gain weight. The main reason people gain weight when they quit smoking, cold turkey, is because they are grappling with urges to smoke and they take their frustration out on food. But when you quit through hypnosis, if you don’t have any urges to smoke anymore, you won’t have any frustration to express through overeating. And to make doubly sure that you don’t gain weight, we will include some very powerful post-hypnotic suggestions that you will not substitute food for cigarettes.
We’re not a hundred percent successful with this or with anything we
do, but it works this way for most people. People who need to lose
weight sometimes actually lose weight as a result of our
stop-smoking program.
Tens of thousands of people in the Chicago area have stopped smoking in Dr. De Grazia’s Outreach Counseling Center hypnosis programs over the past thirty-five years. We are pretty sure he has hypnotized more people in the Chicago area than anyone else in history.
He has conducted private-group hypnosis programs in the past in
Chicago’s City Hall in the City Clerk’s office for city officials,
at the third district precinct headquarters for Chicago police
officers, at some of Chicago’s largest and most prestigious
hospitals, and at many corporations for their employees.
Don De Grazia was born and raised in Chicago. He attended the University of Chicago where he was a member of the wrestling team, lived at International House, and studied philosophy and then psychology.
He has had post-doctoral training in various aspects of clinical and experimental hypnosis. In 1983 he participated in a series of workshops in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which were co-sponsored by the Harvard University Medical School and Beth Israel Hospital, which is part of the Harvard University Medical School complex. In 1982 he participated in a series of workshops which were co-sponsored by the University of Indiana Medical School, Dental School, and Graduate School of Psychology.
As a young man he joined the US Air Force, earned a commission, and flew in Northrop F-89 Scorpions and Lockheed F-94 Starfires, both of which are night fighters (all-weather interceptors). He remains an officer in the US Air Force Reserve.
He is also a writer who has been published in the United States,
Canada, Italy, and Japan. He has won several international awards
for his writing. In the year 2000, the Illinois Arts Council, an
agency of the State of Illinois, selected his fiction for its annual
literary award.
RESERVATIONS ARE
NECESSARY
This stop-smoking program will be a special small-group session.
We have to limit the number of people in both the free seminar and
the actual hypnosis in order to gain the many advantages that result
from a small group, so advance reservations are definitely
necessary. There is sometimes quite a long waiting list by the day
of the session.
There are at least a few people from Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Tennessee, or more distant places in most of our small-group sessions. If you need overnight accommodations, please contact the Carleton Hotel directly at 888-227-5386. Positive Relationships Between Hypnosis & Various Belief Systems
"There is no scientific evidence that the use of lasers for smoking cessation is either safe or effective," according to Dr. Sidney Wolfe, Director of Public Citizen's Health Research Group, which called the practice, "massive fraud."

HYPNOTISTSIN HISTORY
Hypnotists have practiced various forms of hypnosis
throughout the world since ancient times.
Franz Anton Mesmer (1734-1815) an Austrian physician
and hypnotist was the most famous hypnotist to conduct this
kind of hypnosis, which is often referred to eponymously as
mesmerism, but he did little to originate the theory.

"I
quit smoking after trying unsuccessfully for 6 1/2 years. It
was so easy! I had no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am
still awestruck at the lack of withdrawal symptoms. Had I known
this was so easy I'd have skipped everything else and did this
first! Thank you!"
"The program enabled me to stop smoking without
withdrawal symptoms. I left the session with absolutely no
desire for a cigarette."
"No craving. No excess eating."
Chicago, Illinois
"It really does work. I got the feeling that I should
be doing something. Then once I remembered what it was I
forgot about it. It works!"
Since then scientists with modern instruments have confirmed that cortical inhibition does indeed occur under hypnosis. Many scientists believe this cortical inhibition explains why, in a state of hypnosis, suggestions are able to reach the lower brain centers and initiate desired changes in habits and perception. Fortunately, subjects respond only to post-hypnotic suggestions to which they want to respond, and do not respond to undesired suggestions. After hypnosis, people generally report a relaxed, peaceful feeling, and a general feeling of well-being.
There are many theories as to why evolution
(and/or God) has given us this faculty, but clearly it
serves a beneficial purpose or natural selection would not
have preserved it so universally. Forms of hypnosis are
found in almost every culture in the world from the most
advanced to the most primitive. His circle included the composers Haydn and Mozart, whose first operetta, Bastien et Bastienne, was first performed in Messmer's private garden. Group hypnosis is currently experiencing a resurgence of popularity in parts of Europe and America. Some scientists and scholars believe that more people will go into hypnosis and into a deeper state when it is induced in a group setting because some elements of hypnosis are related to group instincts The following observations by Sigmund Freud and Gustave Le Bon as well as some more recent scientists illustrate this point:
"...in
the mental operations of a group the function for testing
the reality of things falls into the background in
comparison with the strength of wishful impulses..."
"Just
as primitive man survives potentially in every individual,
so the primal horde may arise once more out of any random
collection;"
"But we expect even
more of this derivation of the group from the primal horde.
It ought also to help us to understand what is still
incomprehensible and mysterious in group formations--all
that lies hidden behind the enigmatic words 'hypnosis' and
'suggestion'...." "hypnosis
has something positively uncanny about it; but the
characteristic of uncanniness suggests something old..."
"...an
individual immersed for some length of time in a group in
action soon finds himself--either in consequence of the
magnetic influence given out by the group, or from some
other cause of which we are ignorant--in a special state
which much resembles the state of 'fascination' in which the
hypnotized individual finds himself..." --William S. Kroger, M.D., Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology, UCLA School of Medicine, Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. Philadelphia and Montreal: J.B. Lippincott Company, 1963.
"Group hypnosis has been employed effectively for stutterers, alcoholics, and those afflicted with headaches. However group hypnosis reaches its greatest potential in relieving pain in obstetric patients and in the therapy of obesity." --William S. Kroger, M.D., op. cit.
"Part of what may be contained in the "contagion" that Kroger speaks of may involve the sense of security that individuals get from each other when entering a new experience. --Ira A. Greenberg, Ph.D., Camarillo Ca. State Hospital, Group Hypnotherapy and Hypnodrama, Nelson-Hall, Chicago, 1977
